Iona Viola Quick

Iona Viola Quick passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at her home in Batesville, Indiana.   The daughter of Harry Runnels and Mildred (nee: Berlew) Palmer was born in Niles, Michigan on November 5, 1927.   She married her husband John W. Quick Jr. in 1947 in Buchanan, Michigan.  He passed away in November of 1999 after celebrating 52 years of marriage.

Iona worked as a cook for a few years at Miami University and later for Cricket Ridge in Batesville.  She was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church. Affectionately known as Gram or mom to her family, she was a good baker and cook, spoiling them over the years with her delicious dishes and cookies.  Iona enjoyed crocheting, going to Bingo and working her puzzle books.  She was always up for a good old show on Turner Classic Movies but loved watching and cheering on her Cincinnati Reds.  Most of all Iona loved spending time with her family.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Tim Quick, Darlene Gilbreth (Walter), Judy Huber (Gary) and John Quick III (Becky) all of Batesville; along with her 13 grand-children and 25 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Runnels.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 12:00-2:00 pm with a 2:00 pm funeral service all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville.  Burial will follow at St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Batesville.  Pastor John Vadeboncoeur officiating.

Memorials may be given to St. Andrews Health Campus c/o the funeral home. Online condolences www.meyersfuneralhomes.com.
