NAPOLEON, IN — The Napoleon Fire Department is warning motorists in a Facebook post that US 421 south of Napoleon is closed from Michigan Road all the way to County Road 600 North, contrary to information previously provided.
The closure began Friday, April 1 but was scheduled to start Monday, April 4.
The road work is part of an INDOT pavement replacement project.
In the post, the fire department says access to 421 from County Road 700 North has been cut off, and that local access has been maintained but thru traffic is prohibited.
This includes Michigan Road which – residents say – saw an increased number of vehicles and speeders over the weekend.
The official detour is State Road 48 to State Road 129 to State Road 350.
The fire department is urging drivers who use county roads to get around the closure to watch their speed and exercise caution.
