India Turner

India Castner Turner, 73, of Versailles passed away at 4am Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born on January 12, 1943 in Batesville the daughter of William and Nancy Davison Castner. She was married to Donald Turner on May 6, 1967 and he preceded her in death on November 4, 2010. Survivors include two daughters Kim (Tom) Sparks of Versailles and Nancy (Chris) Solomon of Tybee Island, Georgia; daughter-in-law Holly Turner of Osgood; two grandsons Jack and Jesse Turner; one sister Sharon (David) Meisberger of New Marion. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her son Joseph Turner who died December 7, 2014. Mrs. Turner was a 1961 graduate of Holton High School and she received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Moorhead State in 1965. She had taught English at Milan High School and retired from the Division of Family Services Versailles office. She was a Foster parent Trainer and also served on the Prevent Child Abuse Council. Her hobbies included gardening, painting, crafts, fishing, and especially enjoying her family and her grandsons. She loved traveling and also the companionship of her dog Millie. India was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church. India’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service to honor her will be held at 7pm, Thursday, October 13th at the Tanglewood Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 5pm until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Tanglewood Cemetery or the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.
