In Memoriam: Merrill Smith

(Greensburg/Decatur County, IN) – The Greensburg/Decatur County area is mourning the passing of Merrill Smith.

The longtime local volunteer and agriculture advocate died Wednesday at an Indianapolis hospital.

Among his many accomplishments, Smith established Farmers Feeding the Flock in 2018. The popular fundraiser has raised thousands of dollars for the Greensburg Community Bread of Life.

He was a past president of the Greensburg Kiwanis and Optimist clubs, and was active in many local organizations.

It was in March when Smith and his wife Linda were presented the Decatur County Community Foundation’s prestigious Stephen Decatur Award in recognition of their years of volunteerism and service to the community.

Merrill Smith was 71 years old.
