The IHSAA announced its sports classifications for the next two years (2022-23 and 23-24).
Area teams moving up or down a class in the following sports include:
- South Dearborn and Madison dropping to 3A in football.
- Hauser moving up to 2A in boys basketball, girls basketball and volleyball.
- South Decatur falling to 1A in boys basketball, girls basketball and volleyball.

Note: in the IHSAA’s color coding system, it did not indicate South Decatur had moved down in the noted sports above, but the Cougars have indeed dropped from 2A to 1A. North Decatur did not move.
