(Statewide) – Batesville junior James Hughes is the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) District 3 Boys Basketball Player of the Week.
Hughes averaged 32.0 points over two games for the Class 3A No. 7 Batesville boys (16-2).
He hit decisive free throws in the first game and claimed the No. 2 spot for 3-pointers in a game in the second.
The 6-4 forward scored 25 points – including two late-game, pressure-packed FTs – with five rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocks when the Bulldogs edged South Dearborn 68-67.
He followed that performance by sinking 7-of-10 3-pointers to total 39 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 77-53 victory over Madison.
For the two games, Hughes hit on 24-of-30 from the floor, 7-of-11 beyond the arc, and 13-of-13 from the free throw line.
