The following are high school boys varsity basketball recaps from January 8-10 (unless denoted as JV).
North Decatur lost 52-50 in double overtime to Shenandoah. The Chargers held a three-point edge after the third quarter, but the Raiders tied things up at 36 by the end of regulation. Both teams played to an 8-8 draw in the first overtime. Shenandoah then outscored North 8-6 in the second extra session.
Kaden Muckerheide had 14 points for ND. Teammates Lance Nobbe and Blake Spears both scored 10.
The Charger reserves won 43-34 led by Brady Mauer’s 11 points. Brayden Hancock followed with nine.
Franklin County won its 15th consecutive game with a 57-45 decision in Ohio against Ross.
The Wildcats Chad Cox led the Brookville boys with 18 points and six rebounsds, Bridger Bolos scored 12 points with seven assists and three steals while Brant Ertel had 11 points plus four boards and four dishes.
Milan fell by two at Rising Sun, 64-62.
The host Shiners had balanced scoring: Peyton Merica 15 points, Damon Carrigan and Kendal Montgomery 14 each, Brady Works 12 and Dylan Martin nine. Merica and Carrigan combined for 16 rebounds.
South Decatur won big at Crothersville 85-43.
Hunter Johnson unloaded for 45 points and eight rebounds. Jacob Scruggs scored 16 plus kicked in five assists and five steals.
At the Eagles Nest, Jac-Cen-Del defeated Oldenburg 68-41 on Norm Night. The Osgood community honored long-time supporter Norman Kappes who recently passed away.
Wyatt Day’s 22 points and Caleb Simon’s 16 were tops for Jac.
The Eagle reserves also won 51-30 led by eight points each from Caleb White and Landon Kohlman.
Batesville won its first EIAC game of the season, nipping Rushville 41-40.
in the JV game, the Bulldogs cruised past the Lions 55-28.
For the BHS reserves, Conner Drake Scored 18 while Carter Bohman and Cole Pride both contributed 10.
