Howard Wessel, beloved husband of Beulah (Bea) Wessel passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 in Batesville, Indiana at the age of 94.
Howard was born to John and Eleanor (Eickbusch) Wessel on November 15, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Howard was the youngest of three boys. He enjoyed his childhood in Cheviot, Ohio and had many fond memories of growing up there with his brothers Gordon and Ralph.
In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by two of his stepdaughters, Judy Scheyer and Louise Scheyer, by his two brothers, Gordon Wessel and Ralph Wessel and his nephew, John Wessel.
Howard was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Batesville, IN. For a number of years he applied his love of woodworking to make projects for each of the sometimes 90 or more children attending the church’s Vacation Bible School. Howard was also a member of Batesville Masonic Lodge F & AM #668 attaining his 50 year pin.
In addition to Bea, Howard is survived by his daughters, Linda Nicholson (Bill), Pamela Hursh (Mike LeTourneau), Sandy Dalton (Bruce) and stepdaughter, Janet Scheyer, grandchildren, great-children and many nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly. In addition to his family Howard is greatly missed by his many dear friends and neighbors.
Given the pandemic a memorial service is planned for later this summer.
