(Washington, D.C.) – Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) has appointed General R. Dale Lyles as Chair of Indiana’s 9th Congressional District Military Academy Nomination Boards, and as a member of the United States Military Academy (West Point) Nomination Panel.
Lyles is a former Indiana Adjutant General.
“General Lyles has dedicated his life to service, and I’m proud to have him lead our military academy nomination process,” said Congresswoman Houchin. “His decades of military experience, leadership, and deep understanding of what it takes to lead at the highest levels of service will be an incredible asset in this role. I know that General Lyles will help identify and guide the next generation of leaders who will proudly represent Indiana and our country in uniform.”
He’ll oversee the selection process for students seeking nominations to the U.S. service academies, including West Point, as well as the Naval, Air Force Academy, and Merchant Marine academies.
The nomination boards are tasked with reviewing applications and making recommendations to Congresswoman Houchin as she selects candidates to nominate to the academies.
