Helen (Riehle) Amberger, 89, of Milan passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville. Helen was born on Friday, December 30, 1932 in Batesville; daughter of Edward and Edna (Forthofer) Riehle. Helen married the love of her life of 68 years, Irvin Amberger, on August 7, 1954. When Helen graduated high school, she went to beauty school. She then went on to own and operate her own beauty salon, Amberger Beauty Nook, for 52 years. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church of Milan, Lady Society of the Church, and Milan American Ladies Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and traveling. She was especially known for always helping other people no matter what.
Helen will be missed by her husband, Irvin Amberger of Milan; son Edward “Ted” (Angie) Amberger of Milan; daughter Lola (Mark) Paras of Indianapolis; brother Mark (Carlene) Riehle of Sunman; sisters Alma Laker of Sunman, Betty (Donny) Federle of Morris, and Janet Schwering of Greensburg; grandchildren Lauren (Maxx) Hagan, Morgan (Nicholas) Davidson, Alexis (Michael) Luers, Ean Amberger, Adele Amberger, and Taylor Amberger; as well as one great-granddaughter, Lily Hagan.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Edna Riehle; daughter Lisa Amberger; brother Ralph Riehle; brothers-in-law Dennis Schwering and Harry Laker; and sister-in-law Rita Amberger;
Family and friends may gather in remembering Helen on Sunday, December 11, 2022 from 2:00-5:00 PM at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with a rosary being held at 1:45 PM and a Ladies Auxiliary Service at 5:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Catholic Church, 213 W Ripley St, Milan, IN 47031 with Father Shaun Whittington. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Helen for masses at St. Charles Catholic Church or to the Milan Fire Department.
