Harley M. Roark, 76, of Holton passed away at 4:30am, Monday, February 15, 2021 at his home. He was born near Linefork in Letcher County, Kentucky on September 2, 1944 the son of Lue and Arnie Caudill Roark. He was married to Mildred Hamilton on September 24, 1965 and his wife of 55 years survives. Other survivors include two daughters Glynna (James Stamper) Halcomb of Whitesburg, Kentucky and Susie (Todd) Starkey of Milan; five grandchildren Harley (Charlotte) Halcomb of Linefork, Winston (Toni) Halcomb of Versailles, Matt (Kelsey) McConnell of Deputy, Ashley (Justin) Patrick of Versailles, and Jessica Starkey of Milan; 8 great-grandchildren; four brothers John (Linda) Roark of North Vernon, Joe (Debbie) Roark of Osgood, Jim (Dana) Roark of Holton, and Mark (Teresa) Roark of Linefork; four sisters Bonnie (Bo) Kieffer of Holton, Tina (Jim) Wingate of Canaan, Bonita Halcomb of Linefork, and Martha Hammons of Canaan, along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughters Lisa Roark McConnell, and Janet Roark, and his sisters Lola Wood, Anna Mae Ahaus, Dana Craig, Ola Simon, Eula Sizemore, Thelma Osborne, and Georgia Sparks. Harley’s working career spanned many years with employment at Rumpke’s in Batesville, the Ripley County Highway Department, and Seever’s Landfill in Milan. He also worked as a lumberjack and had operated a filling station in Holton and also a Phillips 66 station in Vevay. He had on the side worked as a self-employed carpenter, plumber, and mechanic. He immensely enjoyed the closeness of his large family along with hunting, fishing, and a good game of cards. Harley attended the Little Memory Old Regular Baptist Church near Sunman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 10am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Randy Thieman officiating. Burial will be in the Little Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 6pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
