H.S. softball recaps from Friday, May 13

The following are high school softball recaps from Friday, May 13.  All games are varsity unless noted otherwise.  There may be updates, so please get back.

South Ripley shut out Southwestern 10-0 on Senior Night.

Raider pitchers Mady Tompkins and Ellie Waldron combined on a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts.  Tompkins got the win throwing four innings.  Both players also produced two hits at the plate.  Tompkins drove in three runs.

Emily Campbell singled and doubled with three RBI and Brooklyn Brown smacked a three-run homer.  Defensively, Morgan Meyer had an unassisted double play.

The Rebels only hit was by Ashley Fulton.

South Ripley has a big conference game at home against Rising Sun on Monday.  Both teams have only divisional loss.  Should the Raiders win, they will take the ORVC outright.

If Rising Sun wins, the Shiners could win the conference outright if they also beat Jac-Cen-Del later in the week.

Rising Sun beat Switzerland County 6-5 in nine innings to keep pace with Ripley.  The Pacers scored twice in the top of the seventh to force extra frames, went ahead 5-4 in the top of the ninth only to see the Shiners score twice in the home ninth to score the important ORVC victory.

Ella Eldridge had the game winning RBI on her third hit of the game.  Teammate Cora Poling drove in two runs and pitched all nine innings with six strikeouts against two walks.

Switzerland County’s Lily Sparks also went the distance in the circle and struck out 11 and walked none. Sparks and Maddie Duvall both had three hits.   Bre Stow and Sparks each collected one RBI.

South Decatur lost 13-2 to Hauser.

Loryn Pate had two of the Cougars five hits.

Offensive leaders for the the Jets were Kenzie Bostic with a single, home run and with five RBI and Hannah Taylor with two triples, a base knock and three ribbies.

North Decatur was shut out by Lawrenceburg 11-0.

Ava Hall pitched a two-hitter for LHS with five strikeouts.  She also had two hits at the plate as did teammates Payton Beard and Brooklyn Couch.  Meghan Heinsman and Rylee Held both homered for the Tigers.

Clair Kinker and Raegan Nobbe had the only hits for ND.
