(Greensburg, IN) – Greensburg City Council and the Board of Works each received an update Tuesday night from Director of Public Projects Zach Wirrig on the Franklin Street streetscape rehabilitation project.

Wirrig says the street was closed Monday on the east side of the square between Main and Washington, and crews removed trees and cut into the pavement.

He adds affected businesses have been great to work with in the early days of the project.

A number of business owners have posted on social media, saying they’re open and providing updates to their customers.

The work includes curb, sidewalk, street, and other improvements.

The project is being funded by a combination of Community Crossings, INDOT, READI 1.0, federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and local dollars.

Wirrig says Franklin Street is set to reopen by September 1.
