Boys basketball rallies from a double-digit deficit to defeat Lawrenceburg in 2OT.

The Greensburg boys basketball team rallied from a 27-16 deficit at the start of the fourth quarter to defeat conference rival Lawrenceburg 46-42 in double overtime. Jack McKinsey converted a layup with 20 remaining in regulation to force a 34-34 tie that sent the game to its first overtime. With the Pirates down two with 1:10 remaining in the first overtime, Reece Beaver made two free throws to tie the game at 38 heading to the second overtime. The Pirates led for the first time in the game in double overtime when an intentional foul called on Lawrenceburg on the opening tip sent Addison Barnes-Pettit to the line to for two free throws. Pettit made one of two free throws, which gave the Pirates the lead for good. Drew Busick made two free throws with 2:16 left in overtime to extend the Pirates’ lead. Busick led the way for the Pirates with 14 points. Bradley Lutz scored 12 points. The Pirates (11-6, 4-1 EIAC) remain tied atop the EIAC conference standings with Connersville, Batesville, and East Central, who all have one conference loss. The Pirates return to the court Thursday night at Rushville. A JV/Varsity doubleheader tips at 6 p.m.
