(Greensburg, IN) – The Greensburg Board of Works on Tuesday night accepted the retirement of police detective Jarrod McCalvin.
He had been with the Greensburg Police Department for 23 years, and has taken a position with Greensburg Community Schools as a School Resource Officer (SRO).
Police Chief Mike McNealy says he and McCalvin were both hired at GPD in 2002.
“He’s a great man to work with. He’s a great man independently, but a great officer who led our department in arrests and citations for years, and has worked up through the ranks and got himself up into the position where he was able to finish out as a detective, and we look forward to what he does for us at the schools,” McNealy said.
McCalvin has held the ranks of Official, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Patrol Captain and Investigator.
He also served two-and-a-years as Greensburg Schools SRO when the program was funded by the city.
McCalvin is the last original serving member of the GPD Tactical Response Team, of which has served as Team Commander since 2022.
His last day as a full-time officer with the Greensburg Police Department will be July 19. In addition to his new duties with Greensburg Schools, McCalvin will continue to serve as a GPD reserve officer so that he can maintain his law enforcement credentials and training.
