Greensburg baseball hands North Decatur loss to open season

GREENSBURG— In varsity baseball action Thursday evening, Greensburg defeated 8-2 North Decatur.

North Decatur would have their lone lead of the game after scoring one in the top of the first. In the bottom of the inning, the Pirates scored 2 runs to take the lead.

North Decatur would get their second and final run in the top of the 5th. Greensburg would go on to score three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning on an error.

Lance Coy was credited with the victory for Greensburg. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over three and two-thirds innings, striking out 11.

Brayden Hancock took the loss for North Decatur. The southpaw lasted four innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out one and walking zero.

Reid Messer went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Chargers.

Greensburg racked up six hits on the day. Nate Murray went 3-4 with 2 RBI for the Pirates.
