DECATUR COUNTY, IN — Farm Credit Mid-America recently contributed $5,000 to the Ag Field of Interest Fund held at the Decatur County Community Foundation. The donation was matched dollar for dollar thanks to a challenge issued by two local farming families.

“We’re very proud to be a part of the Decatur County Community and are thrilled to be able to make this donation,” said Brent Ditmars, Regional Vice President of Farm Credit Mid-America. “Our mission is to secure the future of rural communities and agriculture and I can’t think of a better way to put our stewardship dollars to work than by donating to a fund that does so much for the local Ag community.”

The Ag Field of Interest was established in 2008 to create grant opportunities for local projects related to the agricultural industry. Past grants from the fund have gone to all three of the local high schools for their FFA departments; to local 4-H groups and the 4-H fairgrounds; and to the Farmer’s Market for educational activities, among many other projects.

“We appreciate not only the gift that Farm Credit Mid-America has made toward this matching challenge but everything they do for the Decatur County community,” said Patrick Wells, Ag Field of
Interest Chair. “Farm Credit has doubled their investment in our community, to the local ag industry, and to our Community Foundation with their single gift. By helping to grow the Ag Field of Interest Fund, they are helping to grow the grant-making abilities to ag-related projects.”

The match opportunity is available through the end of the year.
