(Greensburg, IN) – Nearly 300 people attended Saturday morning’s Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce Ag Day Breakfast at Next Generation Red Barn.

One of the highlights of the morning was the announcement of the first ever recipient of the $5,000 Agripreneur grant – Logan Bedel.

” I plan on putting it back in as my input for this upcoming year. Then I’ll use my income to pay my rent at the end of the year,” Bedel said.

He says he plans to plant 10 acres of corn and 15 acres of soybeans this season, and that the grant dollars will come in handy.

“I won’t be out of pocket near as much as I would be, so I’ll be further ahead when it comes to profits for this year.”

It was also announced that Cornerstone Agriculture LLC will donate acreage for this year’s Farmers Feeding the Flock fundraiser benefitting Greensburg Community Bread of Life.

“I’ve been familiar with the program for several years and I knew Merrill Smith and before he passed away, he asked if we would ever be up to the opportunity to be the host farm. So I agreed and it just so happened to work out for ’26,” Barnhorst said. “Unfortunately, Merrill’s not with us anymore but we’re really excited and honored to have the privilege to do this.”

Barnhorst says Cornerstone is a partnership between he and Kevin Weber.

“We operate land in Decatur and Ripley counties, so this will be the first time that Farmers Feeding the Flock has been hosted in the southern part of the county. So we’re excited about that,” Barnhorst said.

The event also featured keynote speakers Aaron Gault with Advanced Agrilytics; Pat Karst with Halderman Real Estate and Farm Management, and Brian Owens with LandProz.
