Golden Hoosier Nominations Accepted

(Statewide) – The State of Indiana is accepting nominations for the Golden Hoosier Award, which honors outstanding volunteer service by older residents.

It’s considered the state’s highest recognition of senior citizens for their lifetime of volunteer service to their communities.

The award honors Hoosiers aged 65 and older who have made significant contributions to their communities through ongoing volunteer efforts.

Presented in partnership with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration and AARP Indiana, the award is open to current Indiana residents age 65 and older who have volunteered in their communities for the past three years or more.

“’The Golden Hoosier Award celebrates the unsung heroes among us,” said Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith “These senior citizens have spent decades giving back, lifting others up and strengthening our communities. I encourage Hoosiers across the state to nominate someone whose selfless service deserves to be honored.”

The nomination form can be found here and should include the nominator’s contact information, the nominee’s details and a summary describing the nominee’s service and impact.

Nominations are open until July 15.

Recipients will be honored at a Statehouse ceremony on September 2.
