ST. LEON, IN — A Go Fund Me page has been set up for Kelsee Lainhart.
The U.S. Marine Corporal and 2019 East Central High School graduate was wounded in the August 26 terrorist attack at the Kabul, Afghanistan airport. Thirteen U.S. servicemembers and 180 Afghanis were killed in the suicide bombing.
Lainhart is facing a long recovery period after suffering injuries to her temple and spinal cord. She underwent surgery earlier this week at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C.
According to the GoFundMe page, Lainhart said the day before the attack that, “…she was sad about anyone that might be left behind.”
Money raised will be used for medical expenses, specialists, travel, and other items that will not be covered by the military to help Lainhart in her recovery.
As of Thursday morning, nearly $22,000 of the $200,000 goal has been raised.
