The following are girls high school basketball recaps from January 5 and 6. There may be updates, so please check back.
Girls Rivertown Classic Round 1- Switzerland County 45, South Dearborn 36
Switzerland County erased a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat the host Lady Knights.
Jessie Duvall led the Lady Pacers with 18 points. Sister Maddie had 14 and MacKenzie Taylor tallied eight. For South Dearborn, Emily Elliott posted nine points while Natalie Rupp and Quinn Heizer scored six each.
Girls Rivertown Classic Round 1- Lawrenceburg 57, Rising Sun 29
Defending champion Lawrenceburg jumped out to a 16-4 first quarter lead and went on to win by 28.
Lizzie Redar and Kirsten Cross had 13 and 11 respectively for the Lady Tigers. The duo also combined for 13 rebounds. Hannah White added eight points. The Shiners got a game-high 16 from Alyssa Simpson and seven from Jenna Peelman.
North Decatur has a big second half to win at South Decatur, 51-40.
The Lady Chargers trailed by 10 at the half and outscored the Cougars by 21 in the second half. South Decatur’s 27 turnovers weighed heavily in the outcome.
For ND, Madi Allen scored 16 and Madelyn Bohman netted nine. For SD, Makayla Summers led with 11 and Kiley Best bucketed 10.
(JV) North Decatur beat South Decatur 46-40.
Ally Whitaker and Sydney Rohls scored 15 and 10 in the victory for the Charger reserves.
Shelby County Tournament Round 1- Waldron 49, Southwestern Shelby 33.
Waldron got 17 points from Bella Larrison and 14 from Megan Bogemann. Mackenzie Shawe followed with eight. Lilly Rooks posted 14 points for Southwestern and Lily Kerber scored 10.
Shelby County Tournament Round 1- Triton Central 50, Morristown 30.
Lizzie Graham hit six triples for 18 points to lead TC. Brooklyn Bailey dialed up a dozen and Olivia Faust put in nine. Reagan Kleine tallied 10 for the Yellow Jackets.
East Central lost 45-31 at Mt. Notre Dame (OH).
The Lady Trojans were outscored in the second half 27-16.
Hope Fox and Josie Trabel led EC with 12 points each. The two players also combined for 24 rebounds.
Rushville won in Brookville over Franklin County 48-31.
The Lions led by just four at halftime but outscored the Wildcats 22-9 in the second half.
Sophia Dora and Annika Marlow both put in 15 points for Rushville. Dora dominated the glass with 14 rebounds. Bothe players had three assists.
