Girls Area Middle School Basketball Scores

The 7th Grade JCD Lady Eagles defeated Waldron 23-12.  Scoring for the Lady Eagles were Sophia Sullivan 6, Delaney Hughes 6, Kelsey Borgman 5, Ashlynn Moorman 3, Cheyenne Cullen 2, Hayley Kunz 1.  

The 8th Grade Lady Eagles defeated Waldron 56-15.  Scoring for the Lady Eagles Reagan Hughes 18, Julia Meyer 13, Reese Obendorf 13, Emma Wagner 6, Hayley Kunz 4, Delaney Hughes 2.

The 7th Grade Lady Bulldogs moved to 8-4 on the season winning their fourth straight game against Sunman-Dearborn.  The entire team played great defense all night to holding the Lady Trojans to just 14 points while shutting them out in the fourth quarter to get the win 18-14.   Leading the way scoring was Aly Peters with 5 points, followed by Eden Williams/Veronica King/Lydia Haskamp with 4 points each, and Sophie Gesell with 1 point.   The Bulldogs play at home Thursday night against Greensburg at 5:30 pm.

The 8th Grade Lady Bulldogs beat Sunman-Dearborn last night, 26-19. The Lady Bulldogs held the Trojans scoreless in the 3rd quarter and played all-around great team defense. Leading scorers were Elena Kuisel with 10, Kaylie Raver and Kaylin Hinners each with 5, Rachel Lamping with 4, and Elaney McGuire also chipping in a bucket. The Bulldogs had 10 steals and crashed the boards well on the offensive end. Next up the Lady Bulldogs face Greensburg Thursday night at home.

North Decatur Girls 7th Grade Basketball beat South Ripley 50-19. The Lady Chargers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The charge from North’s offense was led by Madi Allen racking up 24 points. Following her was Hannah Gorrell with 8 including 2 3’s. Clare Kinker and Kelsey Haley added 4 each. Brooke Mauer and Laney Saunders contributed 3 apiece. Kacie Barker and Ally Whitaker chipped in 2 each. The Lady Chargers move to 13-0 on the season and travel to South Decatur Thursday.

North Decatur Girls 8th Grade Basketball falls to South Ripley 32-28. Ogden leading scorer with 13 pts. Kunz with 10 pts. Motz with 3 pts. Gearhart with 2 pts.

The 7th Grade Lady Cards fell to Sunman-Dearborn with a final score of 30-10.  We played hard but struggled to break the press of SD.  Scoring for us were Lucy Abplanalp with 6 pts, and McKenzie Maple with 4 pts.  We gave great efforts under the basket with boxing out and putting up several shots they just didn’t fall for us.  Nice job ladies keep working hard.

 
The 8th Grade Lady Cards beat SD with a final score of 56-15.  Scoring for SLS on their final game was Catherine Streator with 12pts, Kate Weber with 9 pts, Claire Saner and Iza Wonnell both bringing 6 pts, Rhea Miller with 5 pts, Ava Owens with 4 pts, Lilly Schebler with 4 pts, Lea Cossentino with 4 pts, Madison Wanstrath with 3 pts, and Sadie Wachsmann with 3 pts.  What a great way to have an 8th-grade night with all girls scoring and working as a team on their home court one last time.  Nice job ladies and way to represent SLS.

North Decatur Girls 7th Grade Basketball beat Waldron 32-17. The Lady Chargers advance to 12-0 beating conference opponent Waldron. Once again, defense proves to be the Chargers’ kickstart to the game. The offense was led by Kelsey Haley with 10 including 2 3-balls. Next in line, Ally Whitaker added 6, followed by Madi Allen and Hannah Gorrell each with 5. Clare Kinker with 4 and Kasey Barker with 2. The Chargers are back at home Tuesday to face South Ripley at 6:00.

North Decatur Girls 8th Grade Basketball beat Waldron 38-34. Kunz with season-high 24 points, Motz 5 points, Ogden 4 points, Stier 4 points, Abrams 1 point.

The St. Louis 5th Grade Girls Lady Cardinals improved to 10-0 on the season with a 47-4 victory over the St. Lawrence Panthers at St. Lawrence on Monday, February 24. The Lady Cardinals played a very strong defensive game hardly allowing the Lady Panthers to get a shot off. The Lady Cardinals used 11 of Mimi Smith’s game-high 19 points in the second quarter to jump out to a 25-0 halftime lead. The Lady Cardinals used a well balanced attack where four Lady Cardinals each scored 4 points in the 3rd quarter to take a 41-2 lead. Madden Showalter had a very well balanced game with 12 points, numerous steals, and a few rebounds. Belle Young had a strong 2nd half scoring all of her 8 points and adding a few steals as well. One of the really bright spots of the game was Riley Siegel, she only scored 2 points but put on a defensive clinic in the game creating a turnover almost every time down the court. The Lady Cardinals return to the court on Thursday as they play their last three games at home starting with a rematch with Laurel.

The 6th Grade St. Louis Cardinals traveled to St. Lawrence to take on the Panthers. The Cardinals started off strong and never looked back, winning the game 18-14. The Cardinals had 6 of 9 girls score on the evening. Leading in scoring was Rachel Suttmann with 6 points, who did an excellent job on defense and handling the ball. Cora Roth added 4 points with some very impressive defense and rebounding. Katelyn Rahe, Karsyn Watson, Bridget Lohmueller, and Meg Ritter all chipped in 2 apiece. Paige Watters rebounded and played great defense. Jaelyn Owens and Isabel Imel both hustled well and had a solid game. This win moves the Cardinals to 5-6 on the season. They are in action again on Thursday at home against Laurel.
