Franklin County, IN — A Connersville man facing a number of charges in Franklin and Union counties has been arrested in Texas.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says 46-year-old Steven T. Lakes was picked up Wednesday on several felony warrants out of Indiana.
Franklin County deputies worked with the U.S. Marshal’s Office and local law enforcement after learning that Lakes fled to Texas.
He is being held in the Collin County, Texas Jail, awaiting extradition back to Indiana.
In Franklin County, Lakes is facing charges of Dealing Methamphetamine (Level 3 felony); Possession of Methamphetamine; Battery with Bodily Injury to a Public Safety Official (both Level 5 felonies); and Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 felony).
If convicted of Dealing Methamphetamine, Lakes could be sentenced to 16 years in prison and face up to $10,000 in fines.
Lakes is also facing charges in Union County, where he allegedly stole a Sheriff’s vehicle in November and was arrested a day later but escaped during the takedown.
He had been on the run ever since.
