Frye sponsored bill to assist disabled Hoosier Vets advances

Indianapolis, In. — The Indiana House of Representatives voted in support of a bill sponsored by Republican state representative from Greensburg State Rep. Randy Frye that would require the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to issue permanent parking placards for disabled Hoosier veterans.

Under this proposal, the BMV would issue a permanent parking placard to disabled Hoosier Veterans if they qualify for the disabled veteran license plate. They would be able to request the placard at any BMV branch.

“This legislation ensures that disabled veterans across Indiana will no longer have to frequently renew their disabled parking placard,” Frye said. “Disabled veterans would also be able to use their permanent parking placard in vehicles other than their own. This gives those veterans the freedom to move from vehicle to vehicle while still being able to park in designated parking spots.”
