Frye officially announces District 67 reelection bid

Greensburg, In. — State Representative Randy Frye, R-Greensburg, announced today that he will seek re-election to the Indiana House of Representatives from District 67.

Frye was first elected in 2010. A retired professional firefighter, he serves as chairman of the Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee and as a member of the Roads & Transportation and Utilities, Energy, and Telecom committees.

“After much prayer and consideration, I’ve decided to once again be a candidate for reelection to Indiana’s House District 67,” Frye said.

Frye noted that Indiana ranks in the top of almost every economic development category nationally.  “With unemployment at or below 4 percent, jobs are available for Hoosiers,” he said.

In 2017, $7.4 million in funding was awarded to maintain local roads and bridges as a result of the Community Crossing Grant program, a bill Frye co-authored.

In September of 2017 the State of Indiana entered into a contract to purchase land in Lawrenceburg for the Fourth Port of Indiana, a project Frye has supported from the beginning.

“Adding the forth port in Lawrenceburg and the additional infrastructure improvements to support it only enhance our ability grow our economy locally – and regionally — and keep our best and brightest here at home,” he said.

In the 2017 legislative session local riverboat gaming revenue came under attack.  Frye successfully led the effort to defend the vital revenue.

For his work as author of many successful pieces of legislation covering a wide range of issues, Frye has been recognized as a Legislator of the Year or with other citations from various organizations. These include the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association for legislation allowing volunteer firefighters to serve as  elected officials; the American Legion for legislation creating statewide veterans services officers, along with a dozen other bills passed by the Veterans and Public Safety Committee; the Indiana Fire Chiefs for his legislation leading to the approval of Indiana Task Force One, which responds to disasters in the state; and the Indiana Clean Cities Coalition, for his legislation promoting clean domestic natural gas as a motor vehicle fuel.

“It is the greatest honor of my professional life to serve as your State Representative.  I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Southeastern Indiana,” he said.

Frye is the father of two and grandfather of six and resides on a small farm in rural Decatur County.

House District 67 includes parts or all of Dearborn, Decatur, Jefferson, Jennings, Ripley, Ohio and Switzerland counties.
