Franklin County to stagger start of school

Brookville, IN —Monday evening, the Franklin County Community School Board approved some revisions to its reopening plan and a revised school calendar.

Major changes include a staggered start for the beginning of the school year. In order to help with logistics, the school will be dividing the student body in half and taking two days to begin the 2020-21 school year. On Wednesday, August 5th students in grades PreK (BES only), 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 will attend school. On Thursday, August 6th students in grades PreK (BES only), K, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 will attend school. All students will attend on Friday, August 7th.
FCCS will also require face coverings when moving throughout the building. Previously, the reopening plan had highly recommended face coverings during the school day and required them only on the bus. Students will now be required to wear face coverings when entering the building (from a bus or car) and during the school day when moving throughout the building (hallways) and other times during the day when social distancing is not possible such as working in labs, small groups, etc.
