Francis M. Spaulding, 92, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away December 25, 2016 at the Ridgewood Health Campus in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

He was born July 12, 1924 in Newport, KY, son of the late Harvey Spaulding and Sarah Miller Spaulding. He worked as a exterminator for Seagrams Distillery, and served as Union Steward, retiring after over 45 years of service.

Francis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Aurora. Francis served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII . He was very proud to be a veteran, having served in Germany and France. Francis was a “fix-it” guy, and could put anything together. He did some woodworking, and enjoyed camping, and bird watching. Francis loved to kid around with folks, and enjoyed being with people. Francis faithfully cared for his wife during the seven years she was in a nursing home. He only missed about 10 days in 7 years of her stay.

Surviving are daughters, Sue (Jerry) Geisler of Lawrenceburg, IN, Wendy (Tom) Gehring of Lawrenceburg, IN; four granddaughters, Allison (John) Groce, Megan (Blake) McGraw, Jessica (Kyle) York, Leslie (David) Bullock; Niece, Barb (Charles) Roland; special friend, Wanda Chase; and great-grandchildren, Conner, Camden, and Cate Groce; Grayson, Garyn, and Langley McGraw; Emme, and Sam Bullock; and J.T., Lily, and Claire York.

Francis was preceded in death by parents, Harvey Spaulding, and Sarah Miller Spaulding; wife, Bernice Henry Spaulding; siblings, Guiles Spaulding, Wilbur Spaulding, Joseph Spaulding, Reeta Spaulding, and Hubert Spaulding.

Friends will be received Thursday, December 29, 2016, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.

Graveside services will be held at River View cemetery, December 30, 2016 at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of local Veterans Service Organizations.
