Frances Bower

Frances Bower, of Indianapolis, died on December 24, 2023 at Robin Run Senior Living Facility, where she had been a resident for several years.  She was born in Lerose, Kentucky, on February 27,1937, the daughter of Charles Vires and Rebecca Gabbard who preceded her in death. Much of her adult life was spent as a homemaker, supporting her husband, Ora, and raising three sons. She availed herself of every opportunity to support her children in their young lives. She taught Sunday School, participated in PTA, was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, and was a dedicated and loyal choir and band parent. She was a fierce proponent of the arts, particularly music, and supported her own children and other talented artists and performers in their endeavors. She returned to work in 1986, retiring from Walmart in 2006, after 20 years of working in stores in both Greensburg and Clearwater, Florida. 

She was a loving and devoted wife, married for over 35 years to Ora Bower of Greensburg. He precedes her in death. She had three sons, Tracy Bower who precedes her in death, Jeff Bower, and Galen Bower; ten grandchildren, Joshua, Zack, Jordan, Blake, Brianna, Alysson, Candace, Charles, and August; three great-grandchildren, Layla, Lilly, and Brooklyn. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greensburg. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the ALS Association (www.als.org.donate) in honor of her late husband, or to St. Jude Children’s Fund (www.stjude.org.give). 

Visitation services will be from 10am-12pm on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg, with the funeral beginning at noon, The Rev. Jeffrey Bower officiating. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery immediately following the service.
