A couple of former East Central Lady Trojans are off to great starts as freshmen in their collegiate spring track seasons.

For the University of Indianapolis, Ellie Lengerich qualified for the Indoor NCAA D2 National Championships in two events. She qualified seventh in the high jump with a leap of 1.75 meters and fifth with her distance medley relay team in a time of 11:33.

In her very first meet of the season, Lengerich broke UIndy’s 14-year-old high jump record clearing 1.75 meters and was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Another former Trojan, Jessie Stenger, was named HCAC Field Athlete of the Week. HCAC photo.

And down in Hanover, Jessie Stenger earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors.  The first-year Panther had a winning shot put heave of 12.04 meters, a first place discus throw of 37.51 meters and a fifth place hammer toss.
