(Southeastern IN) – A Flood Advisory is in effect for Ripley, Franklin and Dearborn counties until 11:00 this morning.
The National Weather Service says flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected, particularly in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Shortly after 5 a.m., radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms.
Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.
Between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen, with additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch possible.
Forecasters urge you to turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
To report flooding, go to weather.gov/iln and submit your report via social media when you can do so safely.
