(Friendship, IN) – Hot ember blowing out of a burn barrel is believed to be the cause of a grass fire that ignited around 3:45 p.m. Saturday on the 6,000 block of State Road 62.
The Friendship Volunteer Fire Department says about one-and-one-half acres had burned by the time they arrived, but crews quickly extinguished the flames.
About 300 gallons of water was used to fight the blaze.
There were no injuries reported.
Aurora EMS provided assistance at the scene.
“We are approaching that time of year, those warm days start to happen, but the grass has not started greening up. Be diligent if you are cleaning up debris from winter! Be safe out there,” the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department wrote on social media.
