Brookville, IN—Tuesday evening Brookville Fire and Blooming Grove Fire were dispatched to Whitcomb Road for a fully engulfed barn fire. Witnesses in the area stated they heard fireworks around the time of the fire but this has not been confirmed by officials. Cedar Grove Fire, Metamora Fire, and Drewersburg Fire were all requested for mutual aid as the fire burned through the night.
Three medical helicopters were also dispatched to the scene by EMS. The Franklin County Sherriff’s Office have confirmed that one person died in the fire and four others were injured. Their conditions are still unknown at this time.
Whitcomb Road was closed for some time last night to allow emergency crews to work and for the medical helicopters to have a landing zone.
