Fire Hits Senior Living Facility

(Greensburg, IN) – There were no injuries reported after a fire Thursday afternoon at Sky Bird Manor on East 10th Street in Greensburg.

According to a statement issued by the City of Greensburg, a gas leak under the building ignited the fire, which caused serious damage to the structure.

Gas and electric to the building was disconnected for the safety of people and other structures around Sky Bird Manor.

All residents and staff were evacuated by the Greensburg Fire Department, Greensburg Police Department, Decatur County EMS and other first responders.

Sky Bird Manor will be closed until further notice, and residents who were displaced by the fire will be relocated. Decatur County Emergency Management has set up a warming center for residents at First Christian Church.

The city is asking you to avoid the area so first responders have room to work.
