FAFSA filing deadline moved in Indiana due to state holiday

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Indiana Commission for Higher Education has moved the filing deadline for the 2022-2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to April 18 because the original April 15 deadline is a state holiday.

Since state offices will be closed on April 15 for Good Friday, this change will provide students and families additional days to receive assistance with filing the FAFSA.

The federal form must be completed in order for students to be eligible for most financial aid.

As of March 18, the overall FAFSA filing rate was down 15.2% from the same date a year ago.

Each year, Hoosiers who don’t file the FAFSA miss out on millions in financial aid.
