Danielle Green, 42, was booked into the Switzerland County Jail Tuesday after pleading not guilty to murdering her ex-husband.

Danielle Green, 42, was arrested and had an initial hearing Tuesday in the Ohio County Circuit Court.

No bond was set for the woman accused of shooting her ex-husband, Raymond Green, 62.

Prosecutor Aaron Negangard said she admitted to investigators that she killed her ex, but Green says it was in self-defense.

She allegedly shot her husband ten times, after finding a loaded handgun on a nightstand next to her ex-husband sleeping in bed on the morning of Monday, May 26. Police say Raymond Green’s body was found in a metal box on the property on Hartford Pike in rural Ohio County.

Investigators say the defendant told them she shot Raymond Green out of fear for her own life, but Negangard said the evidence is contrary to the facts.

An investigation showed there were searches on the internet that included “Let’s Talk Terminal Ballistic Headshots” and “Headshot and 38 at Close Range” dating back to March, investigators said.

According to the Dearborn County Register, Danielle Green’s attorney David Zerbe said other evidence should be considered. The defense team may pursue a battered spouse defense in the trial.

The trial is set for next month.
