Ethel June Crocker, 96, of the Hopewell Community passed away at 4:40pm Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born in Cincinnati on March 31, 1920 the daughter of Guy and Sherla Morris Smith. She was married to Orville Crocker on January 27, 1945 and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2004. Survivors include one daughter Nancy Thola of Osgood; three sons Merrill Crocker and Melvin Crocker both of the Hopewell Community, and Lee (Nancy) Crocker of Waverly, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Phyllis Jackson. Mrs. Crocker was a 1938 graduate of Western Hills High School in Cincinnati. Her and her husband Orville formerly owned and operated Crocker’s Coin-o-Wash in Osgood and June also assisted her family on their Christmas tree farm as well as with the livestock, including chickens and eggs. With God and family vital to her life her number one occupation was homemaker, but she also found time to be a 4-H leader as well as giving piano lessons. June was a 70 year member of the Hopewell Baptist Church where she played the piano and taught Sunday School. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 7th at 11am at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Ty Choate officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Baptist Church building fund in care of the funeral home.
