Esther E. Hoover

Esther E. Hoover, age 80 of Batesville, died Monday, March 25, 2019 in Naples, Florida.  Born April 18, 1938 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Myrtle (Nee: Riedeman) and Noel Ertel.  She married Don Hoover June 27, 1956 at St. Louis Church.  After high school she worked for 10 years in the office of Margaret Mary Hospital, 10 years for Dr. Bill Freeland and 23 years with the Batesville State Bank as assistant cashier before retiring.

Esther and Don loved to travel.  Members of an air travel club, they looked forward to trips with family and friends.  They also enjoyed RV camping, resort vacations and cruises.  In their travels, they’ve visited all 50 states, the Canadian Provinces, several Caribbean and Atlantic Islands, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Belize, Iceland, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Panama and Costa Rica.  After retiring, they’ve spent the last 20 years as “snowbirds”, wintering in Florida.

She is survived by her husband Don; sister Margaret Ertel of Indianapolis; brother George Ertel of Penntown as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Marilyn Peetz and Edith Steinkamp.  Esther in now enjoying a reunion in Heaven with other family and friends and is patiently awaiting our arrival.

Visitation is Tuesday, April 2nd, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home.  Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3rd at St. Louis Church with Rev.
