Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Hamilton, 96, Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Morning Breeze in Greensburg. Born July 16, 1926, in Greensburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Thomas Raymond and Rose M. (Klene) Tumilty.
Betty worked in the 1940’s and 50’s at Hamilton Kitchen on the south side of the square, Cosmo’s Candy Kitchen, and Mr. G’s. Betty along with her husband managed the clubhouse and kitchen at the Greensburg Country Club. She then moved to Florida and managed an ice cream store for several years. She returned to Greensburg and in 1992 started working at the IGA and later retired in 2020. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was a married to Harrell Worth Hamilton on October 29, 1950, and he preceded her in death on November 9, 1994.
She is survived by two brothers, John (June) Tumilty, Greensburg, Thomas (Marilyn) Tumilty, Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Margaret “Peg” Hash, Greensburg, Sharon Tumilty, Greensburg; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Roselyn Tumilty, Linda Tumilty and Pat Upton. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg. Memorial masses may be made in her honor at the St. Mary Catholic Church.
