Eilene A. Burris, 87

Eilene (Venter) Burris departed us, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones on December 16, 2022. She was born on March 28, 1935, on the family farm in Franklin County. Eilene was one of nine children of Clyta Pearl (King) Venter and Nelson James Venter. She was a graduate of Brookville High School. Eilene married John Burris on December 29, 1962, and he preceded her in death.

Eilene had an amazing work ethic. She was an employee at Delta Faucet for many years, until retirement. She enjoyed life by traveling with her sister Glenna, writing poetry, listening to music, looking for antiques, experiencing nature, and most of all she loved her family. Eilene had a strong faith in God. All parts of her life she instilled in her children.

She always treated anyone who entered her home like family, and she always made family feel special, wanted, and loved. Her children could not have asked for a better mother, mentor, and example to follow. They were truly blessed to call this woman, Mom.

Eilene is survived by her children: Jeff (Linda) Kraus, Jennifer (Terry) Black, and Michelle Ricke. She is grandmother to: John L. (Shari) Black, Keith (Natalie) Black, Ashley Kraus, Brandon (Stacy) Ricke, Aly (Jake) Wubben, Kristina (Ben) Morton, and Ashely Prewett. She is great grandmother to: Breanna, Payton, Ana, Jase, Dante, Willow, Kaiser, Paige, Joshua, Emmett, Carson, Claire, and Paisley. Eilene is also survived by her sisters: Lavon Fields, Vesta “Tootsie” Montag, Joann Bode, and Glenna Hoog.

Eilene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers: Kenneth Russell, Edward Venter, Nelson “Butch” Venter; and sister, Deloris Hunter.
