Edythe Hollandsworth, 92, North Vernon

Edythe A. Hollandsworth, 92, of North Vernon passed away at 7pm, Sunday, April 19, 2020 at her home. She was born near Zenas in Jennings County on October 11, 1927 the daughter of Walter and Rhoda Morris Franklin. She was married to Paul Hollandsworth on December 22, 1951 and he preceded her in death on October 17, 2005. Survivors include two brothers Lowell (Kay) Franklin and Duane (Carole) Franklin both of Holton; brother-in-law Jerry Burton of Osgood; sister-in-law Luella Franklin of Holton, and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Walter Franklin, Jr. and Lloyd Franklin, and her sister Odetta Burton. Mrs. Hollandsworth was a 1945 graduate of Holton High School and several years later furthered her education at the University of Maryland, Purdue University, and the University of South Carolina. She was a bookkeeper beginning her career at the Neal Motor Company in Osgood and Seagrams in Lawrenceburg. With her husband Paul being in the military she was moved with his transfers and worked in Texas, Libya, Nebraska, and South Carolina. Edythe’s hobbies included gardening, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and quilting. She made many beautiful quilts and wall hangings. She was also an avid woodworker, making several pieces of furniture for her home. Edythe attended the Methodist Church. Due to the current health pandemic funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Dan Barringer of the Hopewell Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery.
