East Central’s Nick Weber was a podium finisher at Saturday’s IHSAA Boys Swimming and Diving State Championships in Indianapolis.  The Trojan senior placed eighth in the 50 free with a time of 21.25.

Weber was the only local athlete to compete in a state championship heat.  There were also two East Central relay teams which swam in consolation heats.  The 200 medley group consisted of Weber, Skyler Cavins, Ray Krider and Ayden Ketchem.  The foursome in the 200 free was Weber, Kaden Cummins, Henry Strotman and Ketcham.  Both teams came in 15th.

Other local athletes who qualified for state but did not advance beyond Friday’s preliminaries included: Cavins who was 21st in the 200 IM, Milan’s Dylan Thomas who took 24th in the 100 breaststroke and Switzerland County’s Adrian Armstrong who finished 21st in the 100 fly.
