Batesville track and field athletes Ayden Eckstein and Jake Chapman qualified for next weekend’s state finals following Thursday night’s IHSAA regional meet at Lawrence Central High School.
Eckstein won the high jump championship with a season best leap of 6 feet 9 inches.
Chapman qualified by placing third in the 800 meter run with a personal best time of 1:54.62.
Two of the Bulldogs’ relay teams did not qualify for state but set new school records.
The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Chris Stenger, Blake Hornberger, Brock Mahon, and James Rowland ran a time of 43.41, breaking the record set last week.
And the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Chapman, Hornberger, Rowland, and Stenger checked in at 3:23.93, which broke the old mark set in 2009.
