East Central Freshman Trojans Had A Tough Game Against South Ripley JV and fell 11-1 on Wednesday.
South Ripley got on the board in the top of the first inning after Trevor Castner doubled down the left field line, Mason McNew doubled to center field, the Trojans committed an error, and Gabe Stewart doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
South Ripley added one run in the second after Trevor Castner singled to left field.
A walk by Jaxon Stenger extended the South Ripley lead to 6-1 in the top of the third inning.
Brogan Buchanan earned the win for South Ripley. The hurler allowed four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out nine and walking three. Max Hornberger took the loss for the Trojans. The starter went three innings, surrendering six runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out six and walking two.
Ace Beccaccio led East Central with one run batted in. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. East Central’s Jackson Wells, the number seven hitter, led the Trojans with two hits in three at bats.
South Ripley accumulated 12 hits in the game. Trevor Castner provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led South Ripley with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 4-for-4 on the day. McNew and Gabe Stone each collected multiple hits. Ethan Schmaltz stole two bases. South Ripley stole five bases in the game.
