East Central Girls Soccer silences Harrison

While the East Central girls soccer team didn’t score in the second half of Wednesday’s home match with Harrison, the five goals they posted in the first half were more than enough as EC beat Harrison 5-0.  The Lady Trojans were led in scoring by a hat trick from sophomore forward Olivia Hopper.

East Central’s Michael Tiemann reported the Trojans hit early and hard scoring three goals in the first seven minutes of play. Goal one came when Hopper connected with a Caitlin Dick corner kick just three minutes after kickoff. Goal two was Hopper again from just inside the 18 mark. Ellie Hill was credited with the assist as she played a short layoff ball to Hopper.  Goal three was a repeat of the first, but this time it was the foot of junior midfielder Julia Tiemann which placed Dick’s corner kick into the net.

At the 16th minute, sophomore forward Kendall Fox took a shot which resulted in an own goal by a Harrison defender. The final goal was in the 38th minute.  Hill pushed the ball forward to Hopper who successfully dribbled around several defenders to net her third goal of the contest.

The second half of the game was rather quiet with no additional scoring.  The game concluded 5-0 in favor of the Trojans.  East Central improved to 5-1-1.

The JV teams competed earlier in the evening resulting in a 0-0 tie.
