East Central girls coach Kevin Moore wins 200th in season opener

In varsity girls basketball Wednesday, Class 4A No. 13 East Central cruised to a 77-27 EIAC win in St. Leon over South Dearborn. The Trojans led 31-2 at the end of the first quarter.

For East Central coach Kevin Moore, it was the 200th victory in his varsity coaching career. Moore is beginning his 13th season at EC.

Unofficial scoring leaders for the St. Leon ladies had Josie Trable with 20 points, Hope Fox with 17 and Lanie Baker with 12.  Top scorers for the Knights were Jillian Bond and Katelyn Routhier with six points each.

East Central also won the JV game 44-25. For the SD reserves, Natalie Cantrell led with eight points and Lakota Vincent followed with seven.

The Lady Knights host a four-team tournament on Saturday.  East Central next plays at Franklin County in a non-conference contest with the Wildcats on Tuesday.
