The following are girls high school basketball recaps from Saturday, December 4.
(VAR) Jac-Cen-Del defeated South Dearborn 56-45.
The Knights and Eagles were tied at halftime. Aundrea Cullen led JCD with 17 points. Annabelle Williams has 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Kiersten Dixen was the top SD scorer with 15. Natalie Rupp and Emily Elliott followed with nine and eight respectively.
The two teams combined to shoot 81 free throws. Jac-Cen-Del was 30 of 51. South Dearborn was 20-30. The game took nearly two-and-a-half hours to play.
(JV) Jac-Cen-Del’s JV got by SD 37-36.
For the Eagle reserves, Delaney Hughes and Kelsey Borgman both scored 10. Kinsey Rohls had nine points and eight rebounds.
East Central handled Madison 59-32.
Josie Trabel’s 17 points and eight rebounds led the Trojans. Laney Baker had 15 points. Julia Tiemann tallied a team-high six assists and chipped in two points.
(VAR) Batesville was a 41-32 winner over Shelbyville.
A 12-4 start in the first quarter helped the Bulldogs to the win. They were led by Emma Weiler’s 10 points. Carley Pride followed with eight points and five rebounds.
(JV) The Batesville JV fell 27-21 to Shelbyville.
Scoring leaders for the Bulldog reserves were Clare Saner and Annie Negovetich with six each. Marlee Obermeyer put in five.
Franklin County lost 36-32 to Shelbyville.
It was a great defensive effort by the Wildcats but, offensively, they missed on a lot of good looks. Nicole Mears had nine points and 12 rebounds. Josie Rolfes and Alex Gillman also collected nine boards as FC finished plus-15 on the glass.
Greensburg beat Connersville 37-34 at The Bowl.
In a tight contest, the Lady Pirates outscored the Spartans 16-6 in the third quarter. The difference for the Pirates was turnovers. Greensburg only had eight and forced 17. The Pirates turned the 17 Spartan miscues into 21 points.
Mylie Wilkison had a team best 16 points and six steals. Kayla Tamm scored nine and Leah West posted eight points and seven rebounds.
Haley Sembach carded 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Spartans. Paige Dunaway added eight points and five boards.
In other girls games from Saturday…
- Rushville had a tough go of it at Westfield losing 67-15.
- Switzerland County beat Christian Academy 47-37.
