Driver killed when semi goes off highway, smashes into weigh station building

WEST HARRISON, IN — A semi-driver is dead following a crash at the westbound I-74 weigh station in West Harrison this morning.

The tractor-trailer went off the highway around 5 am and smashed into the scale house, and the building was destroyed.

The weigh station is located off westbound 74 at the 171-mile marker near the Indiana/Ohio state line.

Indiana State Police say there were no employees in the scale house at the time of the wreck and no one else was injured.

The driver’s name has not been released.
