A Batesville man is counting his blessings after a frightening car crash Sunday night.
24-year-old Rickie Gould turned off of State Route 101 and onto State Road 46 when he noticed a car following his 2007 Toyota Scion closely. The car continued to trail Gould who was heading west into Morris.
“They had decided to pass me, and as they were passing me, they got about a foot or two in front of me, they came back in the lane and immediately slammed on their brakes,” Gould recalled.
According to the Batesville resident, he was forced to swerve left to avoid hitting the car, forcing his vehicle into the ditch and flipping six times.
Gould, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt said, “It was definitely an experience. They say when you roll your car everything kind of goes in slow motion, and it really did.”
Gould said he miraculously walked away from the wreckage with just scrapes and scratches. He was transported to Margaret Mary Health and was later released.
While he is thankful to be alive, he said the accident is a case of road rage.
Police are searching for a lime green newer SUV, possibly a Toyota or Subaru, with very bright halogen headlights, and a spare tire mounted on the rear.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Ripley County Sheriffs Office at 812-689-5558, 812-689-5555, or any law enforcement agency. Callers can remain anonymous.
“Somebody had road rage, and I was a victim of it,” Gould recounted. “But you know, just being alive, and being able to do my everyday thing, not even having a broken bone. I am very thankful for that.”
