Doreen Baker, age 71, of Batesville, passed away January 27, 2024 at her home. The daughter of Arch and Orveline (Cox) Palmer was born on April 14, 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Doreen graduated from Oldenburg Academy and Ivy Tech Community College with a degree in Business. She worked in office merchandising and sales at Batesville Casket Company for 43 years before retiring.
Doreen always enjoyed gardening and taking care of the flowers in and around her yard. She took pleasure in feeding and watching for the hummingbirds that visited her every year. Doreen’s greatest joy was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She will be missed by her husband, Jimmy Baker; her daughter, Christina Ondercin of Fort Wayne; her three grandchildren Lauren (Brock), Natalie (Eric), and Emma; her four great grandchildren, Chloe, Ethan, Ava, and Ivy; along with her sisters Becky (Greg) Simon and Kathy (William) Walsman and half-brother Dennis Hunter.
In addition to her parents, Doreen was preceded by her brother Tom Palmer and her half-brother Pete Hunter.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 11 am until the time of services at 1:00 p.m., all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Pastor Chris Campbell officiating. Burial will follow the services at Cupps Chapel Cemetery in Metamora.
