Donald G. “Scoop” Sintz, 89, Brookville

 

Donald Glen “Scoop” Sintz, age 89, of Brookville, Indiana died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at his residence in Brookville.

Born August 14, 1930 in Brookville, Indiana he was one of nine children born to the late Harry & Emma (Haas) Sintz.  He was a graduate of the former Brookville High School, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Scoop served as Sports Editor of the Brookville Democrat/American Newspapers for many years.  He was also part owner of Whitewater Publications, and had served in various capacities throughout the years at the newspaper.

He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Brookville, the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1129 of Brookville; as well as a former member of the Brookville Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include a sister, Marjorie (Irvin) Stang of Brookville, Indiana as well as many nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Knecht, Hazel Merrell, and Jean Stang; as well as four brothers, Orval, Cletis, Harold, and Burton Sintz.

Family & friends may visit from 9 until 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.

Rev. Ladona Webb, Pastor of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, will officiate the Funeral Services at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 16, 2019 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home.  Burial with full military honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
